You may have long ago decided that IT clients are not your "thing," and that's perfectly fine! However, do you also let potential clients in non-IT positions pass you by simply because you're unfamiliar with their roles? A spy perhaps, toy designer, an athlete transitioning to a corporate job, or someone who works in television production?

During this session, we'll discuss how to interview diverse clients and write a resume with skill and confidence.

Stephanie Clark, professional member of Career Professionals of Canada will be leading this session. Stephanie launched her own career change in 2007, after her role of Administrative Assistant to the Director of Human Resources in a large municipality to that of owner of New Leaf Resumes. Now a recognized industry leader, with her resumes and cover letters recognized for excellence through awards and inclusion in major publications, Stephanie enjoys sharing her experience and insights with colleagues.

Consider these questions for the call:

  1. What are the most unusual jobs that your clients have held? Did these intimidate you?
  2. How do you prepare when you are unfamiliar with a client's role or targeted position?
  3. What questions do you ask to get a good grasp of what the person actually does at work?
  4. What about researcher, teacher, or social worker resumes, where the role has little to do with revenue generation?
  5. How do you reduce your fear factor and ensure a successful outcome?

This is a conference call. Long distance charges may apply.
